Dessel’s participation in this exhibit made possible through the support of the FOUNDATION for CONTEMPORARY ARTS (NYC).

Guest Artist Susan C. Dessel, Long Beach Island Foundation 2007-2008 Artist Residency and Retreat Exhibition.

Dessel’s installation OUR BACKYARD: A Cautionary Tale has been walled off by the gallery as a result of some of the LBIF membership’s reaction to the work as political and offensive. A warning sign greets viewers at the entrance to the walled-in area.

The transformation of having cut the work off from the real world has changed the piece and challenged the artist’s thinking.

Reaction of viewers to the work as now presented has continued to be strong and positive. Dessel invites your comments and thoughts (use e-mail link on About page).

Gallery Hours: Mon-Fri 9am-4pm, Sat 9am-3pm.
