Dessel’s installation OURBACKYARD: A Cautionary Tale has been walled off by the gallery as a result of some of the LBIF membership’s reaction to the work as political and offensive. A warning sign greets viewers at the entrance to the walled-in area.
The transformation of having cut the work off from the real world has changed the piece and challenged the artist’s thinking.
