I envisioned the prototype of this piece in 2004, and created the piece in 2005 (see works page 2005).
In the Jewish religion each visit to a gravesite is marked by picking up a stone or pebble and placing it on the gravestone. The stones in this piece represent the memory of each U.S. military person killed in Iraq. the zip lock bags represent the disposability of human life seemingly evidenced by those in charge.
The need to add stones to the appropriate bag each day continues.
